You know what game needs more recognition?

Released in 2003, Whiplash is a platformer game featuring Spanx, a long-tailed weasel trying to escape from an animal testing facility. He’s also chained to Redmond, an indestructible rabbit whom he wields like a flail, sets on fire, grapples to higher places with, swings around to hover like a helicopter, etc. Basically you go around the facility beating up scientists, destroying equipment, and freeing other animals in your attempt to escape.

It’s not an amazing game, and I’m not trying to say it is. It got some mixed reviews, but I personally found it very enjoyable. The combat was a bit repetitive, but it was also very satisfying. The dialogue was pretty funny too.

The only major flaw I can think of is the map. The map was of the whole facility (pretty much the entire game world), done like a 3D blueprint, and you can’t really zoom in or rotate it very easily. It’s pretty difficult to see where you are, and where you need to go. I got lost a few times because of this, and had to look up a walkthrough to find my way.

Nevertheless, I really like this game. I had a lot of fun playing it, and it was very enjoyable.

It’s also pretty cheap at this point. I got it on eBay a few years ago for $7, factory sealed.
